ACCEPTANCE, TRAINING AND ACCREDITATION PROCESS

The dog training is a three-step process: evaluation, training, and certification. You will be supported by a trainer all the way throughout your program, and even after your dog is certified.

EVALUATION

Before your dog is accepted into the program, he will be required to complete an initial evaluation. This will serve two purposes. The first is to determine if he is suitable for training and becoming a service dog. The second is to determine the training required and create a personalized training plan for you. For more information on the initial assessment, visit the Dog Evaluation tab.

Once your dog has successfully completed the initial evaluation, we will be able to evaluate your application for acceptance into the program. If your dog fails the initial evaluation, you will be able to try again in six weeks. There is no limit to the number of attempts you can make.

ATTENTION: Before entering the program, all dogs must be microchipped, registered with their municipality and have their vaccinations up to date.

TRAINING

The training phase is the one that leads to accreditation. During this phase, you will work with the trainer and your dog so that the latter learns the commands and signals to meet your needs. His training will be personalized according to his needs and yours. This phase lasts between 6 and 24 months, depending on your abilities and needs, as well as those of your dog.

The trainer will create a personalized training plan with you based on a certain number of hours of work done at home. She will also give you exercises to practice on your own. If this number of hours is not respected or if you do not follow the trainer's recommendations, the training may take longer than expected.

CERTIFICATION

Once your dog has achieved all of his objectives during training, he will be evaluated to obtain his accreditation.

If your dog fails the accreditation evaluation, you will be able to try again six weeks later. There is no limit to the number of attempts you can make.

If your dog passes the accreditation evaluation, he will obtain his diploma and will officially be in service to meet your needs every day. You will have to continue to work with your dog every day independently, doing daily exercises to prevent him from forgetting his commands.

Your training will be completed, but the trainer will remain available as needed.

Your dog will have to be accredited again every year, until his retirement.

ATTENTION: Before accreditation, all dogs must be sterilized and have their vaccinations up to date.
